Winifred Wanda Brunner

After a spirited 91 years, Winnie passed away at Eastholme Home for the Aged in Powassan, where she spent her final days.  While talented at knitting and crocheting, an avid gardener and a gifted baker, Winnie’s focus was always her family, whom she cherished.  The fifth of six sisters, Winnie was the last surviving child of the late Norman and Winnifred (Smith) Kernaghan.  She was the devoted wife of the late Roy Brunner and a loving mother to the late Wanda, Diane, the late Stephen (Angie), Marie (Larry Jeffery) and Debby (Tom Litster).  Winnie doted on her grandchildren Logan (Caroline) and Landon Heslip, Derek (Rasheeda) and Greg Brunner, the late Drew (Teresa) and Trent (Patrisha) Jeffery, Clint Litster and Megan (Ryan) Jeffers.  She was also a proud great-grandmother  to Maelle, Everett, Alexis, Kayla, Emira, Asa, Colton, Rory and Evan.  A lifelong resident of South River, Winnie was an active member of the Grace Anglican Church, the ACW and the Royal Canadian Legion.  Winnie maintained her incredible strength and determination even through deep loss and as her health gradually failed.  In the face of adversity, Winnie’s resolve was rivalled only by her care and concern for family, as well as her indefatigable sense of humour.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Raney Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be held at the Grace Anglican Church on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. with a Funeral Service on Sunday April 22, 2018  at 2 p.m.  A light luncheon will follow in the hall.  If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Grace Anglican Church are appreciated.
