Sidney Eric Mummery

Left us unexpectedly and passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2021 at the age of 89.  Sidney went to be with the Lord from his home in Laurier Township.  He was predeceased by his beautiful bride Phyllis Mary Mummery ,  2017, his father Sidney Ernest Mummery and mother Annie Budd of the UK, sister Florence Elsie Millard (nee Mummery), brother Frederick Charles Mummery, and survived by his baby sister Dorothy Jean Hayes (nee Mummery).  He left us suddenly and will be sadly missed by his children, Jackie (Armand), Debbie (Jack), Christopher, Sandra (Tres), Kimberley (Richard), David (Gabrielle), Jason (Lulu), Melanie.  He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren James (Marta), Richard (Andrea),Jeffery, Gregory, Christian, Robert, William, Alicia, Erica, Andrew, Madeline, Isabella and Audrey.  As well as his Great Grandchildren, Mia and Emma.  Sidney was born in England and was a young boy when the war broke out.  He was billeted with British families over the length of the war outside of London and when the war ended he was returned to his family and home.  At the age of 18 he left the shores of England to begin a new life in Canada.  He met his beautiful bride shortly there after and they married and raised a large family residing in the Southern Ontario area.  Throughout his life Sidney had a strong work ethic and always believed to be honest and trustworthy.  He was committed to his family and always made sure their needs were met.  A man of few words whose young life experiences taught him to start each day early and always move forward.

He worked as an Industrial cutter for the auto industry for more than 30 years until he retired.  He had a love for music and played many instruments all by ear.   His love for gardening and tilling the soil always gave him great joy when the harvest was in.  The challenge to try new things and tinkering always was a passion for Sidney and he was always ready to help when anyone called.  In his golden years with the help form his wife a woman of great faith, Sidney found peace with his spirituality  He will be sorrowly missed by his family, extended family and friends.  A private family Wake and Mass will be held on Monday, May 17th 2021 at Raney Funeral chapel, 10 Toronto Ave, South River, ON Interment of Ashes will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery 355 Taunton Rd E, Whitby, On L1R 3L4
