Marcus Coates Obituary

With shattered hearts we announce the sudden  passing of a very dear and proud father, Marcus Maxwell Coates following a tragic accident at home doing something he enjoyed doing within the sacred land where he loved being grounded to the earth in his bare feet for the last 15 years. With his immediate family at his side on Aug 21/2024 at Sunny Brook hospital, Marcus transcended to heaven above with all our everlasting, eternal love.

Missed terribly and loved dearly by his beloved wife of 20 years, Tanya Dobbie and their cherished daughter Cheyenne, along with Marcus’s Mother Geri, In-laws Loretta and Dave Chapman, Brothers in their hearts, Matt Dobbie (Jenn), Warren Dobbie (Lisa), Sister Crystal (Dan) Sheppy, Brother-In-laws Darren Haughton, Travis (Amanda) Haughton, Sister-In-law Alyssa Dobbie (Josh). Proud uncle to Zac, Sydney, Destiny, Maddie, Bre, Nyomi, Jaydin and Great Uncle to Colton.

Also profoundly and deeply missed by an army of aunts, uncles, cousins, dear family friends and his work buddies that were brothers in Marcus’s heart. I’m honoured to know who yous are through work stories he shared. Fondly remembered by childhood friends Jason, Jeff and B.J. A very special mention to Marcus’s cousin Scott and Marcus’s childhood friend Benny who both shared a very special heart beat as brothers for Marcus.

Marcus worked at Honda for almost 21 years. He valued his time spent with family; cooking/baking, swimming, hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, bonfires, singing, music of all genres, exploring Mother natures beauty, everything bugs, insects, wildlife and catching crawfish and bullfrogs with his family. He had a big heart for his family, friends and all animals, especially our family pets; Fancy aka Beep Nosy/Bowser dog, our cats Duper, Bandit, Sonny and Dad’s big buddy cat who also adored him and misses Marcus just as deeply as the others.

Pre-deceased by his father Ken Coates 14 months ago and his father-in-law Mark Dobbie, 4 months after his father. Grandparents Max and Doris Coates, Jean and George Verstraete, our family friend Franci, our family dog of 16 years, just 5 days later, his special Jimmy Bean cat, 2 clover bunnies and his very dear childhood dog Buddy.

Celebration of life to take place at the Burks Falls Legion on Saturday October, 26/2024 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

In honour of Marcus’s legacy and his huge love for Mother nature and trees, please send any donations to help assist with the wildfire recoveries in Alberta http://www.redcross.ca

“Marcus’s spirit will eternally soar throughout the trees, where he never ever wanted to leave”

A fire will be lite and a fishing line casted, forever in your memory, until we’re catching the big ones together again and talking fish tales around the open flames.
