With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Linda Lee Mantha (née Pinkerton) on January 22, 2025, at the age of 68.
Born and raised in South River, Ontario, Lynn will be remembered for her caring nature, her deep love for animals, and the joy she found in being surrounded by family and friends.
Lynn’s remarkable typing skills earned her a typewriter in high school. She later completed a Medical Secretary diploma at Canadore College in North Bay before moving to Toronto to pursue a career in her field. After a brief time in Oshawa, Lynn returned to South River, and then North Bay, eventually settling back in South River in 1985 to be closer to her family. She had a fulfilling 30+ year career at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital, a job she truly enjoyed.
Lynn cherished being with her loved ones, especially around the lake. She spent countless days on Eagle Lake, and had a passion for decorating and painting. Lynn also loved curling and spent many hours on the ice with friends. Her love for animals was evident throughout her life. She spent many hours in the barn caring for and bonding with her horses, and loved showing ponies at local and surrounding area fall fairs. Lynn also bred and showed Golden Retrievers and taught dog obedience lessons for many years. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Lynn was predeceased by her husband, Danny Lee Walter Mantha, and her father, Harvey David Pinkerton. She is survived by her mother, Joan Pinkerton; brother, Mike Pinkerton; daughter Kelly Wager (Wade); sons Kevin Mantha (Ashley) of Guelph, ON, and Lee Mantha of Ottawa, ON; and her three beloved granddaughters, Paige, Molly, and Addison.
The family will receive visitors at Raney Funeral Chapel in South River on Thursday January 30, 2025, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
