Jan passed away peacefully with her twin sister at her side at the Algonquin Grace (Huntsville) Hospice on February 5th, 2018. Beloved daughter of Jean( MacDonald) Heinonen of Ottawa. Dear twin sister of Pauline Heinonen and Sandy (Dale-deceased) Parkes and survived by her niece, nephew, cousins and many friends. She is predeceased by her father Kauko Heinonen. Jan spent many years teaching and then working at the South River Machar Library. Her favorite place was Kesa Koti (Finnish for our summer home) on Paisley Lake where she enjoyed the peace and tranquility it gave her. She was a proud member of the Federation of Teachers of Ontario. Visitation will be held at the Raney Funeral Chapel on Friday February 9th, 2018 from 1-2:30 & 6:30 -8 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at the Zion United Church, Sundridge on February 10th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the South River/Machar Library would be acknowledged as expressions of sympathy by the family.
