It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Harvey David Pinkerton on March 30, 2021 at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice with his family by his side. Harvey is the beloved husband of Joan Pinkerton, dear father of Lynn (Dan) Mantha, and Mike Pinkerton (Melissa). Cherished grandfather of Kelly Lynn (Wade) Wager, Brandon, Nicholas and Andrew Pinkerton, Lee and Kevin (Ashley) Mantha. Adored great poppa of Madisyn, Molly, Paige and Addison.
He is predeceased by his parents Harvey and Frances Pinkerton and siblings, Helen (Charlie) Johnson, and Anne (Earl) Houck.
Harvey was born and raised in Machar Township, worked at the family farm; Johnsons Dairy as the milkman, and finally Pinkerton Sand & Gravel which he owned for 45 years before retiring.
His love for horses was the worst kept secret in the area. Horses, specifically Welsh Driving Ponies, took second place only to his family and friends.
He felt a strong commitment to his community being a Charter Member of the South River Lions Club and Life Member of the South River Agricultural Society and his recent accomplishment of being elected the 25th Mayor the The Township of Machar preceded by, councillor for a period of 20 years.
As per his wishes, memorial donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully appreciated.

April 20, 2021 9:16 AMI just heard word of Harvey's passing over this past weekend. As a cottager on Deer Lake for over twenty years, it's not only the beauty of the lake, sounds of the loons or living amongst the tall pines, one of the things that will always remain solid to me when thinking about cottage country is knowing a great man named Harvey Pinkerton! He not only installed my septic system, him and his wife Joan became a friend. Tony and I would stop off to see them on their farm and show us their lovely pony's. What a beautiful family! And every time I drive by the blue farm, I always think of those moments we shared many years ago. Joan, I lost my husband Tony three ago, and if it's true that you know your friends in heaven as you did on earth, then I have have a good feeling in my heart that Tony and Harvey are pretty much talking about anything and everything! My deepest condolences.

April 10, 2021 2:38 PMJoan and family: Words can’t express how saddened we are to hear about Harvey. He was such a positive influence. Whether it was helping build at the camp or supporting me personally with ideas for my home or cabin. He is someone I am proud to have called my friend.
