Edna E Deschamps

August 24, 1924 ~ May 17, 2015 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Peacefully passed away in Stouffville on May 17th, 2015 in her 91st year, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's Disease.  Daughter to the late Florence (Simpson) and George Winney.  She is predeceased by her husband Conrad Deschamps, daughter Gloria Irwin and grandson George Allen.  She is survived by her children Jean Deschamps, Patricia Arthur, Rodger Adams and Charyce Adams, as well as 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Edna was a kind and loving person who will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.  She was a cook and pastry chef for many years and ran several restaurants including "the friendly coffee pot" in North Bay.  She was well known for her baked goods, especially her butter tarts.  She loved playing cards and was a regular at the South River Seniors Center Euchre games.  On a warm day, you would often find her nurturing the flowers in her garden.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting, skills she passed down to her daughter.  She treasured family and her greatest treasures in this world called her "Grandma or Nanny".  We will forever hear her laughter in the breeze and be reminded of her whenever we smell the scent of lilacs.  Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday May 30th, 2015 at the Raney Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m.  Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences can be made at www.raneyfuneralchapel.ca
