Alex Edward Preston

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Alex Edward Preston on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at the Huntsville Memorial Hospital.  

Beloved husband of Shirley Preston, much loved father of Susan (Gerald) Cameron, Kevin (Kathryn) Preston and Melody (Jonathon) Hawkins.  Adored grandfather of Preston Scott Bailey (Sarah), Benjamin Bailey, Angela Sue Savoy (Josh), Nicole Preston (Derek), Jennifer Lavoie (Manon), Derek Schell, Shannon Lavictoire and Nathan Lavictoire.  Cherished great grandfather to Eva, River, and Mable Bailey, Viola and Brennan Savoy and Chloe Preston-Villneff.  Dear brother of Clark (Donna), Preston, brother-in-law to Edith and Barb Preston.  He was affectionately remembered by his many nieces, nephews, colleagues, friends and neighbours.  He is predeceased by his parents Alex and Viola Preston, siblings Eugene (Edna), Clare (Elsie), Grant, June (Lewis) Kent, Don (Margaret), and Fred.

Alex was a self employed hard working man who succeeded in the logging and gravel industry.  He was overjoyed when Kevin came back to work in the family business.  He loved his God beyond measure and regularly attended the Church of Christ, in which he was a founding member.  Alex was known for his kindness, generosity and caring nature.  He always had a lending ear and was often thought of as a second dad to his extended family.  He appreciated the support and friendship of Ralph Drummond and Lee Webster.

Visitation will be held at the Church of Christ on Saturday November 6th, 2021 from 1-3 p.m with a Funeral Service to follow at 3 p.m.  Masks are required inside the Church and please respect Social Distancing.  The funeral service will be live streamed on the Raney Funeral Chapel website site. Interment service will follow at the Strong Cemetery.

Memorial donations to the Church of Christ or the North Bay Regional Health Center would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
